On Sunday 10 July, as the Lucky Strike B.A.R Honda Formula One cars of Jenson Button and Takuma Sato are racing around the 2005 British Grand Prix circuit, other four-wheeled Honda vehicles are ensuring that everything behind-the-scenes runs smoothly.
Nine Fourtrax 350 ES 4WD Honda ATVs are used by staff at Silverstone circuit to undertake a number of tasks crucial to the smooth-running of the UK’s most-important motor racing event. As the countdown to the British Grand Prix begins, the huge pulling power of the TRX350s is put to good use as the ATVs tow the paint sprayer around the circuit, painting the tyre banks and barriers. Then as the teams’ motor homes are positioned, the TRX350s tow the heavy fuel bowser around the paddock, topping up the teams’ generators, and take the large wheelie bins away for emptying.
Another great benefit of a Honda ATV – its manoeuvrability – is illustrated as the Silverstone maintenance and security teams use the TRX350s to travel around the circuit when it’s packed with crowds and vehicles. The 4WD is essential to the security staff as they run fence line patrols throughout the weekend.
"The Honda Fourtrax ATVs are powerful, reliable and economical workhorses that take on many of the heavy-duty or quick-response jobs around the circuit," comments Lee Howkins, Operations Manager, Silverstone Circuits Ltd. "Although they are crucial to our British Grand Prix logistics, we use them all year round for events including World Superbikes, World Touring Cars and the Silverstone Classic. They are fantastic machines that make our lives a lot easier!"
