Fuel for MiniMotos
For everything you need to know about the most suitable fuel for your MiniMoto.
Combining the Right Fuel
It is especially important to utilise the correct combination of fuel to preserve your engine. If your oil ratio is too high the spark plug and jetting will be compromised. Similarly if insufficient oil is used the performance of your engine will deteriorate. It is recommended that initially any non-synthetic two-stroke oil is used, such as Castrol TTS, Castrol A747, MOTUL 800 and Yamalube. Any other oil is fine but ensure that it is made for premixing and not injection.
Fresh premium petrol is advised from a well known brand such as Shell or Mobil (generally 92. 93 or 94 octane). Be careful of many other generic brands as they maybe problematic to your engine.
A quick tip to optimise protection of your engine is to measure the mix of oil and petrol using either a Ratio Rite or an Accu-Mix Jug. For your own convenience and consistency it is suggested that you select your oil and petrol and stick to it.
Lifeline of your Petrol
It is important to recognise that petrol may become too old for your MiniMoto engine and may result in damage to your engine. It is advised that petrol over 2 weeks old is too old to use. If you only have one MiniMoto there is little need to mix up any more than one gallon of petrol at a time. It is not recommended to mix your fuel with any form of stabiliser as it may disturb your petrol/ oil ratio with damaging consequences.
The most important thing to acknowledge is that if your fuel is mixed wrong or the petrol is too old your MiniMoto engine will be compromised.
